Students enrolled in School of Mass Communications at Virginia Commonwealth University produce VCU InSight, a public affairs TV news program that airs monthly on WCVW-TV Richmond PBS, a Community Idea Station. The half-hour show premiered in January 2003 featuring the latest on what’s going on at the university as well as profiles of VCU students, faculty, and alumni.

A team of student anchors, reporters, producers and production personnel works on the television broadcast. Dr. Tim Bajkiewicz oversees the production through two mass communications courses, Newscasting and Show Production. The show also has a strong multimedia component featured on this Web site. The work of InSight reporters is supplemented with reporting from print journalism students who create multimedia content.

VCU InSight creates an opportunity for mass communications students to get some “real-world” experience while the show also exposes the greater Richmond area to important events and issues at the university.
