RICHMOND, Va. — VCU-TV/HD producers Lisa Figueroa and Jordan Rodericks won an Emmy this summer for their documentary “VCU Qatar.”

The 30-minute documentary took four months to produce and profiled the 10th anniversary of the VCU School of the Arts in the Middle Eastern country.

The awards were held in June at the Kennedy center in Washington D.C. of this year and Figeroa says “I think it says a lot about the school because it says hey we have people here that are really talented so come check us out.” She hopes the win will attract new attention to VCU’s mass communications program.

Currently Figeroa is working on a documentary chronolizing the VCU Theater department’s senior showcase. The year long project is expected to air in summer 2010.
