RICHMOND, Va. – Former President Bill Clinton made a visit to VCU’s Student Commons on October 12 to conduct a rally for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama before a crowd of about 4,000.
Presidential nominees visited the state of Virginia because it is a key battleground state in the election.
VCU Religious Studies major Cassandra Ransome showed praise about how the state’s education budget improved while Clinton was president.
“Under President Clinton’s administration, funding for higher education more than tripled,” Ransome said.
Clinton also focused on issues ranging from health care reform to energy conversation and criticized the President Bush administration’s record.
“That is the sort of thing that you need a president who knows what to do. Barack Obama knows better than to do stuff like that,” Clinton said.
